NCAA Championships
National Seeds Populate NCAA Division I Super Regionals
Share:

The seeds largely held true to form through the first two rounds of the NCAA Division I Championships, with matches played over the weekend at campuses across the country.

On the men’s side, the only second-round upset was Stanford beating No. 13 Columbia 4-2 on the road. In the women’s bracket, UCLA beat No. 6 Duke 4-3 on the road and Auburn took down No. 14 Miami 4-3 on the road.

That means 29 of the 32 national seeds remain alive as the draw enters the Super Regional phase this weekend. Eight schools have both their men’s and women’s programs still competing: Texas, North Carolina, Ohio State, Stanford, Virginia, Georgia, Michigan and Tennessee.

One of the more enticing Sweet 16 showdowns will be in Ann Arbor, where the Michigan men host USC in a matchup of future Big Ten opponents once the Trojans and UCLA leave the Pac-12 in 2024.

All the teams are competing for a spot in the final rounds, which will be played May 17-20 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida.
