About the TennisRPI Lists

The most popular ranking system in college sports is the Ratings Percentage Index (RPI). The RPI is used by the NCAA Selection Committee for choosing teams for the NCAA Tournament in College Basketball, and RPI calculations are used in other college sports like football, lacrosse, baseball, and softball.

The TennisRPI rankings use the widely-accepted RPI formula, and these rankings are updated weekly - exclusively at TennisRecruiting.net.

The TennisRPI rankings are updated every week. Boys rankings are updated on Thursdays, while Girls rankings are updated on Fridays.

List Characteristics

A player's TennisRPI ranking is based on three factors:

  • A player's winning percentage is 25% of his/her TennisRPI.
  • A player's strength of schedule is 50% of his/her TennisRPI. The strength of schedule is defined to be the winning percentage of a player's opponents - excluding the player in question.
  • The strength of schedule of a player's opponents makes up the final 25% of his/her TennisRPI. A player's opponents' strength of schedule is defined to be the winning percentage of a player's opponents' opponents - excluding the player in question.
