Top Seeds Take Different Routes to Kalamazoo Championships

Donald Young couldn't have guessed the final point in his semifinal victory over Marcus Fugate would be the last one he'd play en route to his second straight boys' 18s USTA National championship in Kalamazoo. When second seed Jesse Levine was unable to play in the final due to illness, Young was declared the winner without striking a ball.

Fortunately for the over 2000 fans who packed Stowe Stadium on a clear and comfortable Sunday afternoon, the championship match in the 16 division was a nearly three hour thrill-fest, with top seed Brennan Boyajian defeating Ryan Thacher 7-5, 2-6, 7-6(5) to capture the title.
