BRADENTON, Fla. - Could the Fruhvirtova sisters do it again?
That was the question prior to last week's ITF J1 Eddie Herr Championships, with 16-year-old Linda and 14-year-old Brenda meeting in the finals of ITF Junior Circuit tournaments in Mexico the previous two weeks, with each winning one.

The question was answered in the affirmative Saturday, although the third straight championship match between them Sunday did not produce the competitive contest the first two had, with Brenda retiring due to a right arm injury trailing 2-0 in the opening set.
The singles final was the 29th match in three weeks for the prodigies from the Czech Republic, and after their grueling Saturday, when both were extended to three sets in the singles semifinals and were beaten in the doubles final, its duration could not be considered a surprise.
Brenda, the No. 5 seed, defeated No. 2 seed Diana Shnaider of Russia 5-7, 6-2, 7-6(3) in the semifinals, just moments after Linda had recovered for a 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 victory over No. 6 seed Solana Sierra of Argentina. Sierra had beaten top seed and US Open girls finalist Kristina Dmitruk of Belarus 6-3, 7-5 in the quarterfinals.
