Growing up just outside of Chicago, she considered choosing a college close to home in the Illinois or Iowa area.
When she visited The College of William and Mary, however, she found a group of women in a small school setting who played topnotch tennis, who hit the books just as hard, and who enjoyed each other as friends off court, very much like Kargl herself.
"They are all hard workers who got along really well," Kargl said. She loved the team and the school.
Going off to college is a daunting enough move for Kargl and she said she is fortunate to have the team help in her transition.
"It's an extra source of support," she said. "... An extra family, a comfort zone."
She also thinks that Coach Kevin Epley's experience and coaching style can help fine tune and improve her game, especially in doubles.
