Coaching Achievements
Coach Speerschneider has been active in collegiate coaching for 12 years. He started his coaching at his alma mater, North Carolina State University. He was the assistant coach for the women's team for two seasons (1998-2000), and assistant coach for the men's team for one season (2000-2001). While at NC State, Speerschneider coached several of the top players in the country, some of whom have continued their careers professionally. In addition to coaching, Speerschneider played for the Wolfpack from 1995-1997.

Speerschneider was then the assistant coach for the women's team at Washington and Lee University from 2002 to 2006. In his time at W&L Speerschneider helped produce seven multi year All-Americans, two NCAA singles champions (2005 and 2006), the 2004 ITA Small College Nationals champion, and the team finished ranked #2 in the nation in 2003, 2005, and 2006.

In 2006 Speerschneider took over the women's program at Skidmore College. In his first season he took the team back to the NCAA tournament for the first time in seven years. In 2007-2008, his second season at Skidmore, the team moved up five spots from the previous year in the ITA Northeast regional rankings, and were ranked in the top 30 nationally for the first time in seven years as well. The team also qualified for a return trip to the NCAA tournament. The 2008-2009 season brought even more improvement. Skidmore established itself as a national caliber program being ranked as high as #23 in the nation, and competed in the NCAA tournament for a third straight year. In 2009-2010, in addition to being ranked #19 in the final ITA rankings, the team competed in its fourth straight NCAA tournament, losing a close match to #9 Tufts University in the second round. The team won the Liberty League Title in 2011 earning it's fifth straight NCAA Tournament appearance and finished the season ranked #25 in NCAA DIII. The program took another step forward in 2012 finishing as the #16 team in the country after winning the Liberty League for the second straight year and advancing to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament. Skidmore also had it's first two Women's Tennis All Americans since 2001 as Nataly Mendoza and Lee Ford teamed up to win the ITA Northeast Championships in the fall and qualified for the NCAA Doubles Championships in the spring. As the program continues to strengthen, Speerschneider is well underway of achieving his goal of Skidmore competing for another National Title.
