2007: Marshall defeats University of Texas El Paso and Rice to advance to the Conference USA final. Marshall lost to Tulsa in the final.

2004-05: Marshall goes 19-8 while winning the MAC Tournament Championship and advancing to the NCAA Tournament.

2001-02: Marshall finishes the season with an impressive 21-8 record that included a MAC Tournament Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance.
Tournament Highlights
2007: Kellie Schmitt made it to the main draw of the All-American tournament. She lost in the consolation final to Celia Durkin of Stanford. During the tournament she defeated 5 ranked players.
Individual Achievements
2011: Michaela Kissell and Dominika Zaprazna compete in the NCAA doubles tournament for the second straight year after being ranked as high as No. 22 in the nation during the regular season. Kissell also earns an at-large selection for the NCAA singles tournament.

2011: Kissell is named the ITA Atlantic Region Senior of the Year after winning the regional singles championship in the fall and posting a regular season spring record of 19-0 in doubles and 15-4 in singles.

2010-11: Michaela Kissell won the ITA Atlantic Region Singles Championship after ousting Penn State's Petra Januskova 7-5, 6-0 to claim the trophy.

2010: Michaela Kissell and Dominika Zaprazna advance to the NCAA doubles tournament and Kissell advances to the NCAA singles tournament with an at-large bid.

2007: Kellie Schmitt loses in the consolation final of the All-American tournament to Celia Durkin of Stanford. Schmitt was a 3-time C-USA Player of the Year.

2007: Kellie Schmitt earns a singles ranking of #18 in the Inner-Collegiate Tennis Association.

2007: Kellie Schmitt gets a berth into the NCAA singles tournament where she loses first round to Theresa Logar of Stanford.

2004: Jessica Johnson and Ashley Kroh advance to the NCAA doubles final before falling to UCLA. The ladies receive All-American honors and First-Team All-MAC recognition for their performances.

John Mercer - Head Coach

26 years of NCAA Division I coaching experience - Named Mid-American Conference Coach of the Year in 2003 and 2004 - Coached Jessica Johnson and Ashley Kroh to the finals of the NCAA doubles tournament in 2004 - Johnson and Kroh became Marshall's first tennis All-Americans and first Olympic Sports participants in an NCAA National Final at Marshall - Led Dominika Zaprazna and Michaela Kissell to an undefeated regular season and NCAA doubles berth in 2011 - Coached the Herd to a NCAA tournament appearance in both singles and doubles in 2008, which was a first in program history - In 2007, coached Kellie Schmitt and Karolina Soor to the ITA East Regional Championship doubles title win over the number one nationally-ranked team in the finals - Stands as the program's winningest head coach in winning percentage with a .689 percentage and a 162-73 record in ten years of coaching the Herd - Was selected in 2005 as the ITA East Region Head Coach of the Year, and in 2001 was named the ITA East Region Assistant Coach of the Year - Marshall has compiled a winning record since his arrival as an assistant in 1996 and the Herd has made six NCAA tournament appearances - 11 All-Americans have played for Mercer and he has coached in 14 NCAA Championships - Tennis is one of only two programs at Marshall to play in an NCAA tournament since Mercer took over in 2003 - Mercer led the Herd to three-straight team NCAA Tournament appearances and six individual NCAA tournament appearances after he took over as head coach in 2003.
