Commitment Announcement
Blue Chip Wolfberg Signs with Oklahoma State
Share:

Alana Wolfberg didn’t think much about it when the Oklahoma State women’s tennis program started recruiting her on September 1 of her junior year.

The Orlando, Florida native didn’t have any interest in going to college in that part of the country. Wolfberg wanted to play for an ACC or SEC program closer to home.

But over the next few months, Wolfberg began to appreciate how thoughtful Oklahoma State coach Chris Young was in his approach. Young came to watch her practice. He came to watch her play tournaments. He even came to watch her play in a high school match.

“He really cared so much and never pressured me at all. I wasn’t planning to go visit Oklahoma State, but he genuinely deserved a visit. I owed him a visit. He was too good of a person,” Wolfberg said. “So I went out there and fell in love with everything. Everyone was so helpful and so supportive. I didn’t expect that, and I came home with a great feeling about the school.”

That feeling guided Wolfberg last week when she made her college decision. Even though it was miles away, Oklahoma State was the school where Wolfberg felt most at home. The blue chip senior announced her decision publicly this afternoon while signing her letter of intent to play for the Cowgirls during a ceremony at Timber Creek High School.

“I really felt like the coaches had all aspects of my life in mind. In everything I wanted to do, they had my best interest at heart,” Wolfberg said. “I feel like they will help me get to where I want to be in life, whether it’s tennis or otherwise.”
