Going the Distance to be Seen by College Coaches
Share:

NAPLES, Fla. - Flying across the country to play one day of tennis may sound grueling to some. But to Jasmine Caballero, it sounded like a perfect opportunity.

The three-star junior from Phoenix, Arizona secured the second-to-last spot for the girls draw in the TennisRecruiting.net Showcase event at the Naples Grande Beach Resort.

Held annually in conjunction with the ITA Coaches Convention, the event provides players the chance to potentially be seen by hundreds of coaches from all different levels of college tennis.

Caballero and her father arrived in Florida on Saturday afternoon. She played three short-set matches on the green clay Sunday and flew out on Sunday night.

They couldn’t spare any extra time to enjoy the beach because Caballero has finals this week at Desert Vista High and needed to be back in class early Monday morning.

“I haven’t been talking to a lot of coaches yet, so I am hoping to get more exposure and just play different people by coming here,” Caballero said. “I play a lot in Arizona, so it’s nice to go to the opposite side of the country and play other people who are on the same path as me.”
