Jarmond Renews Passion for Tennis, Commits to Missouri State
Share:

Tiera Jarmond was struggling to find her motivation to keep playing tennis. After ascending through the rankings, Jarmond injured her shoulder at the 2017 Girls 14 Clay Court Nationals. She was sidelined for months, and her results suffered once she returned to the court.

Jarmond knew college coaches were watching, and it made her press even harder to play well and win matches.

"Playing in college had been my dream since I was 10, and I wasn't on the radar anymore. I had so many friends who were talking to great schools and it was really hard to watch,” Jarmond said. “I know it was not my fault I wasn't getting these experiences. It was just terrible luck."

Jarmond tried to remain positive, but the frustration and pain weighed heavily on her spirit. Her brother, Tali, has always been someone she could trust, and he helped Jarmond rediscover her passion for the game.

"Sometimes me and him would go hit just for fun. We would talk about random memories we had from when we were younger and it really helped me put things into perspective,” Jarmond said. “I really found my love and enjoyment for tennis and realized the reasons why I picked tennis and why I still play.”
