"I definitely prefer warm weather," Ebie says. In the warm embrace of the South, five-star recruit Ebie grew up playing tennis. In looking for colleges, she narrowed down her choices to
Alabama and
LSU, which are both within easy driving distance from her home in Mobile.
Her sister is a sophomore at Alabama, and while it would have been convenient for the family for Ebie to join her, Ebie chose LSU instead.
"I loved everything about LSU," Ebie says. "The options that are offered at LSU seemed perfect for me. Everything just seemed like a good fit."
Ebie, voted 2008 Tennis Player of the Year by Mobile's Sunrise Rotary Club, is joining LSU's all-time winningest women's tennis coach, Tony Minnis, now on his 17th year as head coach.
Minnis has taken the Lady Tigers to the NCAA 12 of the last 16 years. Under his tutelage, 2007 All-American Megan Falcon (38-3) made the semis of the NCAA Individual Championships.
