Toni Bickford doesn’t have a minute to waste. The hour-long commute to and from work each day has become a big recruiting period.
She calls international prospects early in the morning on the way to campus, and calls American prospects in the evening on the way home.

Bickford was named the women’s head coach at William & Mary last week, returning to a program where she spent three years as an assistant from 2008-11.
Taking over a program in late September is not ideal timing, but Bickford is using the urgency as motivation.
“It’s not an easy situation, but I think that I always see these kind of challenges as opportunities,” Bickford said. “I feel like I have to hit the ground running. I have to really work hard right off the bat. That kind of inspires me to really push myself.”
