It was easy to play up the revenge angle when Ohio State and Wake Forest met on Monday afternoon in the final of the ITA National Men’s Team Indoor Championships.
The same teams squared off last May in the NCAA final, when Wake Forest defeated Ohio State 4-2 on its home courts.

But getting even was just icing on the cake for Ohio State.
Top-seeded Ohio State turned the tables on third-seeded and defending Indoor champion Wake Forest by defeating the Demon Deacons 4-2 at the Midtown Athletic Club in Chicago to capture the second Indoor title in program history.
Playing a short distance from his hometown of Hinsdale, Illinois, senior Martin Joyce clinched the title for Ohio State by defeating Melios Efstathiou 7-5, 7-5 on Court 4.
“Any time you win a national title in any division in college athletics, it’s pretty darn good. It doesn’t matter who it’s against,” Ohio State head coach Ty Tucker said. “We have put in a lot of time and come up short a lot of time, so it feels good to play well and do it inside the Big Ten footprint in Chicago.”
