Alexandra Luehrman realized her results didn’t look as good on paper as some other players. She knew college coaches may not pay attention if they didn’t do more research or see her play in person.

So before she participated in a Donovan Tennis Showcase event, Luehrman emailed Quinnipiac head coach Paula Miller. Quinnipiac was a school Luehrman really liked, and she saw Miller would be attending the showcase.
“She told me my stats were a little lower than most players she was looking for, but she would stop by and check me out,” Luehrman said. “I ended up having a really good tournament and she liked how I played. I started talking to her more and it really took off from there.”
Luehrman’s connection led to a commitment. The two-star senior from Fort Myers, Florida will be signing with Quinnipiac this month.
Academics played a large role in Luehrman’s attraction to Quinnipiac. She is interested in law school and was intrigued by the university’s dual-degree program.
“It saves a year of everything and Coach Miller did tell me my academic money would carry all the way through,” Luehrman said. “It just looked like a really good opportunity. Who doesn’t want to cut a year off law school?”
