Nishitha Saravanan has always valued having a strong support system in place. From the moment she started being recruited by Miami University (Ohio), Saravanan felt valued by head coach Ricardo Rosas and assistant coach Austin Hensley.

“They both would catch up with me after every tournament and constantly communicate with me and try to help me,” Saravanan said. “They both cared about the same priorities I had in my life. I think that was the biggest factor in me choosing Miami.”
The four-star senior from Greenbelt, Maryland made it official last November by signing her letter of intent to play for Miami. She didn’t get to visit the campus until after signing because of the coronavirus pandemic, but was able to tour around on her own.
The coaches put her in contact with a few of the players on the team, including one who is pursuing a career in the medical field like Saravanan plans to do.
“She explained how much she loved the university and how they have people to help her with not just tennis but school,” Saravanan said. “If she has any questions, she can easily get a tutor or somebody can easily help her with what she needs. It really seemed like having another family.”
