BRADENTON, Fla. - The IMG Academy's tennis facility is in the midst of a complete makeover, but for the four American singles champions last week, the sounds of jackhammers and beeping dump trucks were a minor inconvenience in their march to Eddie Herr International titles. Kate Kim and Rudy Quan were crowned 16s champions, with Teodor Davidov and Kristina Penickova taking the titles in the 12s division.
Girls 16s:
The only weather delay in an otherwise perfect week came on the first day, with wet courts from overnight rain setting back play. That meant the Girls 16s could not finish their first round, resulting in the third round and quarterfinals being played on Thursday. When the dust had settled from that day, four Americans had advanced to Friday's semifinals, assuring a fifth consecutive Girls 16s champion from the United States.

In the semifinals, Kim, the No. 4 seed, defeated No. 10 seed Reya Coe 6-1, 6-3, while No. 3 seed Brooklyn Olson had taken out top seed Piper Charney 7-6(4), 6-1.
Longtime Missouri Valley rivals before they moved to Florida for tennis, Kim and Olson were ready for another battle on a bigger stage, and it was Kim who came out on top 7-6(1), 6-3.
