As early as last summer, Tanvi Narendran wasn’t even sure she was going to play tennis in college.
Narendran always focused much more on academics throughout her life and didn’t even play a major national tournament until 2019.
But the Tucson, Arizona native found a silver lining from the coronavirus pandemic. It enabled her to spend more time on the court and rapidly improve.

Narendran developed into a five-star recruit and started to consider her options for joining a college program.
Her hometown school was one of the first to show interest - even before she began rising up the rankings - and Narendran took that to heart. She has signed to play at the University of Arizona.
“I really liked everything about the school,” Narendran said. “I know I could play on the team here and I really liked the coaches. I would not have picked Arizona if it didn’t have a great student-athlete experience and it does.”
