Sophie Panarese of Milton, MA is a freshman on the Georgetown University tennis team. Panarese attended Milton Academy and was a 4-star recruit who reached a high of #45 in the 2011 TennisRecruiting.net national rankings. Here she answers questions from Hope Rupley of Donovan Tennis Strategies about her transition to college and college tennis.
Hope Rupley (HR): Now that you are two months into your freshman year of college are you feeling settled and into a routine?
Sophie Panarese (SP): Settling in is definitely a long process that I wish I could have expedited; however, after these two months I feel like I have finally fallen into the swing of things. I had to figure out how to balance my tennis with school and my social life. Although I thought this is what I have been doing my whole life, balancing it all in college is a lot different.
HR: What was it like the first few weeks at school?
SP: The first few weeks of school were extremely fun - but also a little stressful. Coming into a new environment, I was anxious and excited. I couldn't wait to meet the team and go to my classes that I chose to take. I was meeting so many different people every day hoping to remember a handful of their names. During the first few weeks I also had tennis tryouts. Although this gave me an opportunity to get to know the girls on the team, I still wanted to perform well.
