Having hip surgery allowed Reilly Tran to get a jump start on her college search.
The blue chip junior from Dunn Loring, Virginia knew she would be sidelined for a few months while rehabilitating, so she decided to take advantage of the free time.
Tran started researching schools, and narrowed her choices down to a manageable number by the time coaches could begin contacting her this fall.
Blue Chip Reilly Tran Has Committed to North Carolina
“I already had an idea by September 1st of where I wanted to go. It made it a lot easier because I think I got 47 emails in the first 24 hours,” Tran said. “It was overwhelming, but I felt so much better having already known what I wanted going in.”
After making her official visit to the University of North Carolina, Tran knew the search was over for good. She verbally committed to the Tar Heels two weeks ago.
“It was kind of a gut feeling. I loved it there and everything was amazing and it just felt like an atmosphere I wanted to be a part of,” Tran said. “The girls on the team and the coaches made it feel like such a family and like I was already going there. It’s totally cliché, but I really did have that vision of North Carolina being the place for me.”
