The scenery and winter weather forecasts were drastic changes, but the small-town friendliness they experienced in Pocatello reminded them of their native Hilo.
Although it wasn’t on Kunimoto’s radar at the beginning of her college search, Idaho State was the only school she cared about in the end.
The four-star senior who goes by Kei-K is signing with the Bengals next month.
“It sounds weird saying it out loud, but it makes me really happy,” Kunimoto said. “It’s such a random place and it’s so crazy to have some people in Hawaii asking me where it is. They have to look it up because no one actually knows.”
