Getting out of her comfort zone was never a concern for Addison Ahlstrom when it came to picking a college. It was actually a major selling point for the four-star senior from Woodside, California.

Ahlstrom’s mother played at the University of Virginia, and championed the benefits of expanding her horizons.

"She really instilled in me that it would be really good to get a new experience in college,” Ahlstrom said. “I knew I wanted to go far away from home and experience something totally out of the blue. The first thing on my list was to go somewhere on the other side of the country."

Ahlstrom found the ideal fit at Brown, and recently committed to play for the Bears. Although many recruits have been forced to tour schools virtually since the coronavirus pandemic struck, Ahlstrom was fortunate. She made her official visit to Brown, located in Providence, Rhode Island, last year.

"The visit was really the big pull factor for me. When I was on the Brown campus, I just felt the culture of collaboration and community and just positive spirit,” Ahlstrom said. “I could tell the students were really happy and my host Ryan (Peus) was very friendly and she really made me feel like I belonged."
