Nina Moravek took a tip from her practice partner to help in her college search.
The four-star senior from Gig Harbor, Washington was interested in Division III programs, and Amber Edmonds told her about Washington University in St. Louis.
Four-Star Senior Nina Moravek Has Committed to WashU
Moravek contacted WashU head coach Paige Madara and eventually arranged a visit to the campus. She liked everything about the school, and it soon became her top choice. Moravek and Edmonds will become teammates in the fall as both committed to play for the Bears.
“I really felt WashU was a great education and that was one of the main factors for me,” Moravek said. “I met the team and they were really nice and I met the coach and she was really nice.”
Moravek was born and raised in Washington. Her father, Carlos, played tennis at Stanford and got Moravek and her two younger sisters interested in the sport.
“I did soccer and swimming for a while. I did gymnastics, golf, ballet, but my favorite was tennis,” Moravek said. “Starting by maybe the eighth grade, I just focused on tennis. I didn’t really like the physical contact in soccer and I think I was too inflexible for ballet and gymnastics. Tennis was just my favorite to compete in.”
