Four-Star Andrade Finds the Right Balance at Trinity
Share:

Rosabella Andrade knew there was a certain status assigned to high-level players being recruited by NCAA Division I programs. She could feel the pressure while traveling around the country playing tournaments.

“As a kid growing up, I romanticized the idea of going D1,” Andrade said. “My parents were spending all this money and in my head I was thinking I had to go D1 and people were implanting a seed in my mind when I was young that I was such a good player I had to go D1.”

But once Andrade began the recruiting process, she realized playing at the NCAA’s highest level wasn’t what she wanted for her future.

“D1 is really demanding and that just isn’t my style,” she said. “I have been playing tennis for so long that I kind of wanted to just relax. I used to be super competitive to the point where I think I burned out probably around age 15.”

Andrade found the perfect fit for her all-around ambitions in her home state. The four-star senior from Southlake, Texas has committed to Trinity University, a Division III school in San Antonio.

“In my opinion, you have the perfect balance of sports and academics at D3,” Andrade said. “I wanted someplace to have fun and play competitive tennis but also have academics be held to the same urgency.”
