Commitment Announcement
Countdown: Hilary Bartlett Decides
by Julie Wrege, 9 November 2007

Over the past year, we have interviewed a number of top tennis players who are also exceptional students. One player with both of those qualities is Blue Chip recruit Hilary Bartlett (New York, NY).

On the court, Bartlett is a Top 20 recruit who has had a great deal of recent success. She followed up a 4-0 performance in singles at the National Team Championships with five wins at the Girls 18 Nationals in Berkeley, Calif. Her only losses over the past four months have come to top players Mary Gambale and Courtney Clayton.

"We are extremely proud of what Hilary has been able to accomplish on the court," said her father, Richard Bartlett. "It is more impressive given the academic pressures she faces at such a competitive high school."

Bartlett certainly makes the academic side look easy. The 5'10" right-hander is a straight-A student who takes the most demanding courses offered by the prestigious Brearley School. With near-perfect SAT scores (770+ on all sections) and perfect marks on several AP exams, it is not surprising that Bartlett attracted the attention of many premier universities.
