Courtenay Cavett Signs National Letter of Intent with Stonehill College

11/19/2014
Senior Courtenay Cavett celebrated her recent signing with Stonehill College on Wednesday surrounded by teammates, family and friends.

Courtenay has been playing tennis for 12 years. Last season, Courtenay earned a district championship and a third-place finish at state.

"I have always enjoyed playing tennis," said Cavett, who was joined in the Jane Neuhoff Athletic Center by her parents, grandparents, aunt and cousin. "I love the individual and team aspect of tennis. I am a lefty, too. Lefties are pretty rare in tennis. I can add a little more spin to it."

The Massachusetts school is a familiar one to the Cavett family. Courtenay's father, Don, played hockey at Stonehill College, and she made sure to wear his Stonehill College sweatshirt Wednesday.

"It is a really pretty campus, and it has easy access to Boston. I've always wanted to be close to Boston. I'm so excited." said Cavett.

Attends the Ursuline Academy of Dallas.
